The #1 way I approach every new client inquiry is by qualifying them. Qualify them, not on budget, but on personality. I truely want to make sure we’re the right fit for each other. Sure, there are always going to be cases where you want you do want the money from the booking – but in the long run, it’s not as positive for your business as you think it is.
I always want my couples to be pushing my business forward. What I shoot today, is going to book me weddings tomorrow. Their close friends, and friends of friends are probably people along the same social and financial wavelength.
Booking weddings with people that you really don’t get along with, and don’t suit your brand, won’t help you in the long term.
From New School Wedding Photographer:
Like Attracts Like… You’re more like your customer than you probably think.
This is why the most important thing is to brand around yourself. If you’re a fun, happy, person – make sure your website says that. You’ll be happier in the long run.
Same goes for if you’re a thoughtful artist when it comes to photography – explain a little bit of your process and really connect with people that are similar to yourself.
